The COVID-19 pandemic was detrimental to brain health and may have accelerated brain ageing, according to a study published in Nature Communications. Researchers found that this ageing was independent of infection status and was "influenced by bio-psycho-social factors, especially social and health deprivation". The ageing was more pronounced in men and older individuals, the study stated.
