The CPI(M), through its official mouthpiece Deshabhimani, criticised Kerala Governor Rajendra Arlekar for displaying Bharat Mata's portrait during official events held at the Raj Bhavan (the Governor's residence). The editorial stated that the Raj Bhavan is not an "RSS Shakha" and that the secular minds of the state will not accept the concept of the nation forwarded by the RSS.
