CPI(M) MP John Brittas wrote to Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman to extend the June 30 deadline for existing central government employees to join the Unified Pension Scheme (UPS) by at least another three months. He said the UPS is being positioned as a replacement for the National Pension Scheme, but some concerns and ambiguities regarding the new scheme need to be clarified.
