Women who undergo CT scans before they get pregnant may be more likely to experience miscarriage and have babies with birth defects, a study found. It included data for over 5.1 million pregnancies and 3.4 million live births. The spontaneous pregnancy loss rate after one, two and three preconception CT scans was 117, 130 and 142 per 1,000 pregnancies, respectively.
