Curtin University's Dr Susbin Wagle has received a $429,000 fellowship to develop a new antioxidant eye gel aimed at preventing blindness in children with inherited retinal diseases. The gel uses a novel drug, HA1, designed to protect retinal cells from oxidative stress, offering a safer, non-invasive alternative to costly gene therapies.
