Former India batter Sanjay Manjrekar opined that the first day of fourth India-England Test in Manchester was a statement to young Indian team's sceptics who think they only score on flat pitches or against weakened attacks. Praising India's "solid batting display", he added, "These were typical English conditions with much-improved bowling attack." India scored 264-4 against England on Day 1.
