Finance Ministry has extended the deadline for employees, retirees and spouses of deceased retirees to exercise their option under Unified Pension Scheme (UPS) from September 30 to November 30. UPS, implemented from April 1, 2025, initially gave a three-month window till June 30. Only 1 lakh out of 23 lakh central government employees have reportedly opted for UPS so far.
