The Income Tax Appellate Tribunal (ITAT) in Delhi has quashed a six-year-old tax case against a Delhi resident involving a ₹8.68 lakh cash deposit. The tribunal ruled that tax officials exceeded their jurisdiction by treating the deposit as undisclosed business income without proper approval. Declaring the proceedings invalid, ITAT set aside all related assessments and tax demands.
