Delhi residents are losing 8.2 years of life expectancy due to high PM2.5 levels, according to Air Quality Life Index 2025 report by Energy Policy Institute, University of Chicago. The report is based on analysis of 2023 data. Delhi's PM2.5 concentration was 88.4µg/m3 against WHO’s 5µg/m3 standard. Nationwide, Indians are losing 3.5 years of their life expectancy, the report added.
