Researchers found that Comet 12P/Pons-Brooks, also known as "devil comet" and part of Halley-type family, contains water with deuterium to hydrogen ratio nearly identical to that in Earth's seas. They confirmed the water vapour rose directly from comet's nucleus, ruling out chemical processes in its coma. The discovery supports theory that Halley-type comets contributed to making Earth habitable.
