Director Om Raut opined that there's no better option than Dhanush to play Dr APJ Abdul Kalam in the upcoming biopic. "It's essential to capture...[Kalam's] achievements...spiritual journey and teachings...And I don't think there could have been a better choice than Dhanush...He's the perfect fit," said Raut. The film was officially announced at the Cannes Film Festival 2025.
