Director Siddharth P Malhotra talked about 'Maharaj' and the controversy surrounding the film. He praised Junaid Khan, Sharvari and Jaideep Ahlawat's dedication for their roles. He then said, "Our intention was very pure. We were not making a film for controversy. We were making a story of a journalist who fought for women when the MeToo movement didn't even exist."
