Japan criticised a Chinese diplomat over an online threat of decapitation he made after remarks on Taiwan by Japan's new Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi. After she suggested that Tokyo could take military action if Beijing attacked neighbouring Taiwan, China's Consul General in Osaka, Xue Jian, wrote on X that "the dirty neck that sticks itself in must be cut off."
