Persons with persistent psychological distress for up to a year after a heart attack are nearly 1.5 times more likely to suffer another cardiac event, according to study in American Heart Association’s journal Circulation. Researchers found 33% of heart attack survivors develop depression yearly, adding that anxiety and stress may affect up to 50% of heart attack survivors during hospitalisation.
