In a first-of-its-kind study, researchers from the University of South Australia have found that paracetamol (or acetaminophen) and ibuprofen not only fuel antibiotic resistance individually but also boost it when used together. The two common over-the-counter drugs significantly increase bacterial mutations, which makes E coli highly resistant to antibiotics, the study revealed.
