Rajan Deshpande, paediatrician and founder of Vittal Institute of Child Health, had visited Madakikoppa, a village in Karnataka, with around 100 residents in 2010 and experienced tough living conditions. His institution will now provide every home in village with doors and windows that preserve traditional charm, toilets and bathrooms, water tanks, smokeless stoves and solar lights among others.
