Dr Atul Kakkar, chairman of Sir Ganga Ram Hospital's Department of Internal Medicine, said people believe only stray dogs and wild animals can transmit rabies, and not domestic animals, which is not true. Even domestic animals can transmit rabies. He added that it becomes difficult to treat rabies patients if they fail to seek treatment within a particular time frame.
