A 53-year-old doctor, Nanikraz Khanoomal Mukhi, who had arrived in India from Hyderabad in Pakistan's Sindh province on a visitor visa in 2009, was granted Indian citizenship on August 5. Presently living in Ahmedabad's Sardar Nagar, he said he used to face discrimination in Pakistan for being a Sindhi Hindu minority. He had renounced his Pakistani citizenship in 2021.
