German Defence Minister Boris Pistorius said the country must build strong defences but avoid falling into Russian President Vladimir Putin's "escalation trap". "If we shot an aeroplane down, [Putin] would claim the airspace violation was just pilot error and we had shot down an innocent young man," Pistorius said. His remarks came after suspected drones breached NATO countries' airspaces.
