Jad Tarifi, a former Google AI engineer, said that he would not encourage people to get a PhD just to "cash in on the AI hype". He said, "AI itself is going to be gone by the time you finish…PhD." He added, "Get into something niche like AI for biology, which is still in its very early stages."
