China has warned the US, "The US shouldn't try to use the Taiwan issue as a bargaining chip to contain China and must not play with fire." Earlier, US Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth warned of China posing an "imminent" threat to Taiwan. Hegseth had also urged Asian countries to boost defence spending and work with the US to deter war.
