Cricketer-turned-commentator Aakash Chopra said Shardul Thakur is not coming to MI from LSG as a replacement for Deepak Chahar. "He is possibly going to play with Chahar," he stated. "Thakur comes from Mumbai, plays domestic cricket for them and knows [Wankhede Stadium] very well," Aakash stated. Notably, LSG traded Thakur to MI for his existing fee of ₹2 crore.
