A nationwide survey by LocalCircles revealed that the rollout of E20 petrol, fuel with 20% ethanol, has led to a sharp drop in vehicle mileage and higher maintenance costs across India. Nearly 80% of petrol vehicle owners, especially those with cars purchased before 2023, report reduced fuel efficiency and performance issues since E20 became mandatory in April 2025.
