The Election Commission (EC) has directed West Bengal's Chief Secretary and District Election Officers (DEOs) to intensify preparations for the electoral roll revision, The Indian Express reported. Bengal's Chief Electoral Officer Manoj Agarwal reportedly sent letters to Chief Secretary Manoj Pant on August 26 and to the DEOs on August 27. Assembly polls in Bengal are due in March-April 2026.
