An 81-year-old Kochi doctor lost ₹1.3 crore in a cyber fraud after scammers posing as CBI officers trapped him in a fake criminal case. The fraudsters threatened to defame him online unless he transferred the money. Police registered a case under BNS and IT Act; part of the amount has been frozen.
