Union Home Minister Amit Shah said that the 2029 general elections will be held with a women's reservation, implementing the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam. It seeks to reserve one-third of all seats for women in the Lok Sabha and the state legislative Assemblies. "DMK is raising the issue only because of the 2026 Assembly elections [in Tamil Nadu]," Shah added.
