Odisha Crime Branch said a 20-year-old student who died by self-immolation in Balasore did so after her sexual harassment complaint was "not validated" by the college's internal enquiry. DG Vinaytosh Mishra said, "The college...had taken action...and an internal inquiry was conducted. But the internal team didn't validate her complaint," Mishra said, calling this the trigger for her extreme step.
