Scientists have confirmed that Europe’s largest bat, the greater noctule, catches and eats birds mid-flight, without landing. Using sensor-equipped "backpacks," researchers tracked the bats' attacks, recording distress calls and chewing sounds as they devoured prey midair. Researchers found 21 distress calls from a captured bird, followed by 23 minutes of 'chewing sounds' as bat continued to fly.
