French President Emmanuel Macron became the first foreign head of state to visit Greenland amid US President Donald Trump's threat to annex the semi-autonomous Danish territory. Macron said his visit was a show of European solidarity towards "the sovereignty and territorial integrity" of Greenland. Trump had earlier said he wants to acquire Greenland for strategic and security purposes.
