Brazil's Supreme Court has sentenced former President Jair Bolsonaro to 27 years and three months in prison after he was found guilty of plotting a military coup. Bolsonaro was convicted for staging the coup after losing the 2022 election to current President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva. Bolsonaro has also been barred from running for public office until 2033.
