Vijay Shanker, former director of the CBI, passed away on Tuesday in Greater Noida following a prolonged illness. He was undergoing treatment for pancreatic cancer, a family member said. As per his last wish, his remains will be donated to AIIMS. Shanker played a key role in securing extradition of underworld don Abu Salem and investigated the 1993 Mumbai blasts.
