Former OpenAI CTO Mira Murati's AI startup Thinking Machines Lab has launched its first product, Tinker, a flexible API for fine-tuning language models. It enables users to fine-tune a range of large and small open-weight models, including large mixture-of-experts models. It offers clean abstractions for writing experiments and training pipelines while handling distributed training complexity.
