Former Sri Lankan President Ranil Wickremesinghe was sent to custody till August 26 after a court rejected his bail plea that cited health issues and wife’s cancer treatment for bail. This comes after Wickremesinghe was arrested on Friday for allegedly misusing public funds during a private trip to UK in 2023. He is accused of spending $50,000 from government funds.
