Researchers from US found that certain PFAS or "forever chemicals" may affect the activity of genes linked to cancer and other diseases. The study analysed the blood of about 300 firefighters from US who were exposed to high levels of PFAS. The research found links among PFAS-related gene changes and biological pathways involved in leukemia, liver, thyroid and breast cancers.
