A study published in 'JAMA Neurology' found that even short-term exposure to air pollution can accelerate Alzheimer's disease. The study said that exposure to high levels of fine particulate matter in the air, even for just one year, was linked to severe accumulation of amyloid plaques and tau tangles in the brain. These toxic proteins are key biomarkers of Alzheimer's.
