Major US airlines including Delta, United, and American cancelled about 700 Friday flights after the FAA directed carriers to reduce air traffic to ease system stress. The aviation regulator listed 40 airports where traffic would be scaled down. According to FlightAware, more than 760 planned flights were dropped from schedules.
