The US State Department has reiterated that Turkey will remain barred from the F-35 fighter jet programme due to its acquisition of Russia’s S-400 air defence system. Washington argues the system poses risks to NATO security and could compromise the stealth technology of the F-35. Ankara, however, maintains the purchase was essential for its defence needs.
