Footwear is likely to become cheaper as Centre approved the two-slab GST structure. Arvind Shrivastava, Secretary, Department of Revenue, explained that earlier footwear costing less than ₹1,000 attracted 12% GST and those above ₹1,000 attracted 18%. "Now, footwear costing less than ₹2,500 will be charged at 5% and those costing more than ₹2,500 at 18%," he said.
