For the first time, Indian Railways has permitted empty passenger trains to operate on the Dedicated Freight Corridor (DFC), officials said. A senior official confirmed that the move aims to enhance passenger and express train operations during the festive season. The decision, they added, will help manage increased travel demand, especially for passengers heading home for Chhath Puja.
