An ISRO study found that for every rupee the organisation spent, the return was ₹2.50 to the society, ISRO Chairman S Somanath said. He said ISRO's goal was to serve the country rather than to compete for supremacy among the spacefaring nations. "Going to the moon is a costly affair. And we can't depend only on government funding," he added.
