According to official data from the Uttar Pradesh Tourism Department and the Union Ministry of Tourism, Varanasi has witnessed a significant surge in tourist arrivals, from both domestic and foreign visitors. Only 2,566 foreign tourists visited the city in 2021. In 2024, it witnessed a remarkable surge and the numbers rose to 3,09,932, thereby increasing by almost 120 times.
