Former Australia men's cricket team captain Bob Simpson passed away in Sydney at the age of 89. He played 62 Test matches between 1957 and 1978, averaging 46.81 with the bat. He also claimed 71 Test wickets. He had initially retired from the game in 1968 after an 11-year career but returned in 1977.
