Former India cricketer Atul Wassan called the celebration in Bengaluru after RCB's maiden IPL win "over the top" following a stampede that killed 11 people. "This wasn't India winning the World Cup, it was just a domestic championship," he stated. Wassan added, "It's free publicity for [the politicians]...In a way, both the franchise and politicians hijacked this whole thing."
