Mexican artist Frida Kahlo's self-portrait titled El sueño (La cama), or The Dream (The Bed),was sold for $54.7 million (nearly ₹485 crore) at a New York auction. This makes it the most valuable work by a female artist. "[It was] painted in 1940 during a pivotal decade in her career, marked by her turbulent relationship with Diego Rivera," Sotheby's stated.
