West Bengal Police have arrested a friend of a second-year medical student in connection with the alleged gang-rape of the student outside her college campus in Durgapur, ANI reported citing Asansol-Durgapur Police Commissionerate. The survivor stated before a magistrate that he had also "tried to force himself on her", News18 reported. This is the sixth arrest in the case.
