Galaxy clusters that collided on course to crash again
short by Pravel Jain / on 07 Jun 2025,Saturday
New observations from NASA's Chandra X-ray Observatory and other telescopes revealed that two galaxy clusters that collided a billion years ago are now on course for another crash. Held together by gravity, these massive structures contain hundreds or thousands of galaxies, vast amounts of superheated gas, and invisible dark matter. The system lies approximately 2.8 billion light-years from Earth.
