A coordination body of Ganesh mandals in Mumbai has appealed to them to keep Ganpati festival apolitical in light of upcoming civic body polls. "Ganeshotsav is a devotional celebration and must be kept away from politics to retain its sanctity," the Brihanmumbai Sarvajanik Ganeshotsav Samanvay Samiti said. Ganesh mandals have also been asked to promote Marathi culture during celebrations.
