Gangster-turned-politician Arun Gawli, also known as 'Daddy', was released from jail on Wednesday after 17 years, officials said. The 76-year-old was serving a life sentence in Nagpur Central Jail for the murder of Shiv Sena corporator Kamlakar Jamsandekar and was granted bail by the Supreme Court. He allegedly operated his gang out of his residence in Dagdi Chawl in Mumbai.
