Gautam Gambhir wasn't BCCI's first choice for India head coach job, PTI reported. "[It was VVS Laxman] and some of the well-known overseas names didn't want to coach all...formats, so Gambhir was a compromise. Obviously...some...compulsions were also there," PTI reported quoting a BCCI official as saying. The report added Gambhir's position won't be safe if India's performance doesn't improve.
