A five-year-old girl from Manchester passed away within 12 hours after she was told her continuous vomiting, neck pain, and headaches were due to a tonsil infection. Later, tests determined Lila Marsland had meningitis, an inflammation of the brain that caused fluid accumulation. According to experts, bacteria, viruses, fungi, parasites, and non-infectious conditions can cause meningitis.
